Housed in the department of History and Archaeology, and in collaboration with the departments of Biology and Geology, this Minor focuses on the coastal context and remains of the past and present in the Mediterranean.
The American University of Beirut (AUB) is offering a Minor in Marine Sciences and Culture, sponsored by the Honor Frost Foundation. Housed in the department of History and Archaeology, and in collaboration with the departments of Biology and Geology, this Minor focuses on the coastal context and remains of the past and present in the Mediterranean. Via the interdisciplinary nature of the Minor, students will gain a deep understanding of the maritime history and evolution of the eastern Mediterranean, with particular focus on the coast of Lebanon. The course is open to all AUB students and two scholarships are offered annually for archaeology students not studying at AUB. The project will run for an initial three year period from 2019 - 2022.
