Fresh Approaches to Conserving Bio-Archaeology in Egypt: A Workshop on the Conservation of Human & Animal Remains
In recent seasons, beautifully preserved human burials and countless animal mummies interred inside ceramic jars have been carefully block lifted by conservators from the North Cemetery excavations at Abydos. Project Director: Lucy-Anne Skinner
In recent seasons, beautifully preserved human burials and countless animal mummies interred inside ceramic jars have been carefully block lifted by conservators from the North Cemetery excavations at Abydos. Modern, practical methods will be employed to excavate burials from the blocks and to conserve and stabilize them for long-term storage and museum display. This project affords a unique opportunity for the training of US conservation students and Egyptian professionals in investigation of bio-archaeological remains, imaging and analytical techniques and archaeological conservation. |
