Collart – Palmyra: The Digital Restoration of the Baalshamîn Temple

The Baalshamîn temple in Palmyra was completely destroyed by Daesh in August 2015. The project will create a digital restoration (anastylosis) of the temple, based on the study, digitization, and online publication of the archives of the Swiss archaeologist Paul Collart, who documented the site in the 1930s-60s.

The Baalshamîn temple in Palmyra, an outstanding example of Syrian-Roman architecture from the 2nd century CE, was completely destroyed by Daesh in August 2015.
