High-quality searchable corpus of the Cheyi language
The Endangered Language Documentation Programme (ELDP) provides grants worldwide for the documentation of endangered languages and knowledge. Grantees create audiovisual collections with transcription and translations of endangered languages and practices. These collections are preserved and made freely available through the Endangered Languages Archive (ELAR).
The Cheyi Language is an endangered language spoken by Tibetan people in Yajiang, Litang, Daofu, and Xinlong counties of the Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, China. This project aims to preserve the Cheyi language by providing high-quality audio and video recordings of language in use. The materials will be transcribed in IPA and translated into Simplified Chinese and English. The project will collect the corpus of four villages in Pubarong Township, Yajiang County, to analyze the internal differences between the dialects of this language and determine its dialectal divisions. |
