Nalögo is an Oceanic language spoken on Santa Cruz Island in Temotu, the esternmost province of Solomon Islands. The last census in 2007 reports approximately 1620 speakers of Nalögo. A number of pressures, especially the great expansion of Solomon Pijin, are leading to rapid changes in patterns of language use and transmission. The project will expland on the limited documentation materials available for Nalögo. Digital audio and video materials covering different genres will be collected, transcribed and translated. In agreement with the speakers, a short collection of texts or a Nalögo-English wordlist will be produced. Primary investigator: Valentina Alfarano
