Preservation of Traditional Knowledge and Ancient Crafts in the Solomon Islands
This project, which includes the documentation of traditional TepPuke voyaging knowledge unique to the Solomon Islands, directly supports the U.S. embassy’s efforts to assist island communities with the preservation of their unique heritage.
Over centuries, Polynesians and other oceanic peoples have developed elaborate inter-island voyaging networks and techniques. [Photo credit: Project organizer]
