Conservation of the 17th-Century Church of the Assumption in Causeni, Phases 2-3

This project, which completes work begun under a previous Ambassadors Fund grant, directly supports the U.S. embassy’s efforts to provide the Moldovan community in eastern Moldova with a platform for discussing the importance of preserving its own heritage and identity in an ethnically diverse society. Built in the mid‐17th century and decorated on the interior with 18th-century murals, the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Church is one of the oldest extant churches in Moldova.
