A grammar of the Nevwervwer language of Malakula (Vanuatu, Southwest Pacific)

The Endangered Language Documentation Programme (ELDP) provides grants worldwide for the documentation of endangered languages and knowledge. Grantees create audiovisual collections with transcription and translations of endangered languages and practices. These collections are preserved and made freely available through the Endangered Languages Archive (ELAR).

The Neverver language of Malakula is spoken by fewer than 1000 people in two inland villages. The intention of this project is to provide a detailed grammatical description of this unknown language, including an analysis of its phonology, morphology and syntactic structure as well as presenting a selection of discourse features of oral texts. Primary investigator: Julie Barbour
