Event Announcement: Uzbekistan: Community, Culture, and Contemporary Craft

We welcome Charos and Timur Kamalovs, Co-Founders of Teplo Store. Since 2018, they have been supporting and promoting local Uzbek designers and artisans through curated markets, large-scale festivals, and a permanent concept store in Tashkent. Their initiatives have built a vibrant network of over 200 collaborators, 95% of them women-led businesses, redefining how cultural heritage is preserved, reimagined, and shared both locally and globally.

This in-person event, hosted at the V&A South Kensington, will explore the landscape of contemporary craft in Uzbekistan, discussing the importance of sustainable heritage practices, commercial opportunities for makers, and the role of the fashion industry. The conversation will be set in the context of the V&A’s collection of objects from Uzbekistan, alongside recent and upcoming projects related to the country.
